Signet rings date back many many centuries. Since before the Bible according to some of my research. And yet it is still such a current design! This specific oval shape lent itself so nicely to this gorgeous carved Turquoise and Crystal Quartz doublet, so I thought I’d give this design a go.

The ring band was created utilizing the left over bits of sterling silver sheet that I had collected from past projects, melted down and sand cast into a solid oval signet shaped band. After lots of cleanup and sanding and shaping, it has a lovely clean and simple yet substantial feel. Being sand cast, there are some very slight imperfections that I personally feel adds character and a true handmade warmth. 

One of the things I love most about this ring is that it could lean masculine or feminine. The heft of this signet brings me back to memories of my childhood when I would sit on my PopPop's lap and try on his big heavy rings on my tiny thin fingers. I always marveled at the shear weight of the metal and how smooth it felt to slide on. This ring gives me those same feels.
